Play-Ups / Guest Players - Outdoor 2026 Season


Rule 8.1.5 Teams are eligible to have up to 4 guest players in a match.

Below is a summary of play up and guest player rules. For FULL RULES - Pg. 23-26

Please Note: Players and teams are 100% responsible for tracking all play-ups/guest players throughout the season. The player statistics shown on the website are intended to be a resource for teams and players but may not be 100% current and accurate.

11v11 Program

Men’s Open (Premier to Division 5)

  • Players can play up a maximum of 6 games in total within their own club (club-tied rules). The team the player plays up for a 7th time = automatic transfer to that team.
  • Registered players can only play up for their club team if they are registered in a lower division club team with the same name.
  • Examples of this rule:
    • Blizzards Div 5 player plays up for a higher division Blizzards team - ALLOWED.
    • Blizzards Div 5 player plays up for a higher division non-Blizzards team - NOT ALLOWED.
    • Any lower division player plays up for a team with a different name in a higher division - NOT ALLOWED.
  • Players can only play up for a non-club team if the two teams are affiliated. Contact CUSA about team affiliations.
  • No guest players allowed from other programs (Men's 7v7, COED 7v7, COED Boarded).

 

Master’s Provincials (Master's Elite and Master's Premier)

Age Category:  Must be 35 years old as of Jan 1st, 2026.

  • Players can play up a maximum of 6 games per team.
  • Players are eligible to play up to any Men's Open teams until this division is split to Masters Elite and Masters Premier.
  • After the division split, Masters Elite players are only eligible to play up for Men's Open Division 3 and higher. Regardless of age, they are not allowed to play down to O45.
  • After the division split, Masters Premier players who are over 45 can play down to O45A.
  • No guest players allowed from other programs (Men's 7v7, COED 7v7, COED Boarded). 

 

Master’s 1 & lower

Age Category:  Must be 35 years old as of Jan 1st, 2026

  • Players can play up a maximum of 6 games per team.
  • Eligible to play up for any team in Master’s Provincials (Master's Elite or Master's Premier, after the split), and Men's Open.
  • Master's players who are 45 years of age and older:
    • can guest play down for any O45 team for an unlimited number of times (NEW to Outdoor 2026).
    • no more than 2 Masters’ players may play down per game per team.
  •  No guest players allowed from other programs (Men's 7v7, COED 7v7, COED Boarded).

 

Over 45

Age Category:  45 years old prior to registration 

  • Can play up unlimited per team with any Master’s, Men's Open or higher Over 45 division team.
  • O45A players are NOT allowed to play down for O45B. O45B are NOT allowed to play down for O45C.
  • O45 players are NOT allowed to guest play for other teams in their division.
  •  No guest players allowed from other programs (Men's 7v7, COED 7v7, COED Boarded).

 

7v7 Program

  • Players can play up a maximum of 6 games per team.
  • Men's Open - competitive is the highest division and the recreational division is the lowest.
  • 7v7 players can guest play for teams within their own division or a higher division.
  • Masters O35 - can play up to Open, a maximum of 6 times per team.
  • O55 players are eligible to play for any higher division team or any other Over 55 team. 
  • No guest players allowed from other programs (11v11, COED 7v7, COED Boarded).

 

Coed Boarded Program

  • Players can play up a maximum of 6 games per team.
  • Players are only allowed to play within their own division or a division above.
  • Players cannot play against their registered team. 
  • No guest players allowed from other programs (11v11, Men's 7v7, COED 7v7).

 

Futsal Program

  • No guest players allowed - players must be registered with the team to play with the team.
