Play-Ups / Guest Players - Winter Season


Please Note: Players and teams are solely responsible for tracking all play-ups / guest players throughout the season. The player statistics shown on the website are intended to be a resource for teams and players but will always be an incomplete listing.

ONLY those play-ups on game sheets received in the CUSA office will be shown. Remember, there can be a delay between the time the game was played and when the game sheets are received in the CUSA office.

Rule 12.4. Teams are eligible to have up to 4 guest players in a match.

 

Boardless Program

Men’s Open (Major to Div 5/Men's U23)

  • Can only play up for their club if they are registered in a lower division club team of the same name. Lowest division is the U23 division/Division 5.
  • Examples of this rule:
    • Foothills FC Div 5 player plays up for a higher division Foothills team - ALLOWED.
    • Foothills FC Div 5 player plays up for a higher division non-Foothills team - NOT ALLOWED.
    • U23 Calgary West player plays up for a higher division non-Calgary West team - NOT ALLOWED.
    • Div 4 player plays up for a team with a different name in Div 2 - NOT ALLOWED.
  • Players who are allowed to play up can play up a maximum of 6 games per team in total per season.

Master’s Elite/Competitive

Age Category:  35 as of Jan 1st

  • Eligible to play up for Men's Open - Division 3 and above ONLY. 
  • Can play up a maximum of 6 games per team in total per season.

Master’s Premier (NOT APPLICABLE TO INDOOR SEASON)

Age Category:  35 as of Jan 1st

  • Eligible for Master’s Elite, Men's Open.
  • Can guest a maximum of 6 games per team in a season.
  • The Master’s players who are over 45 years of age may play down into O45 A.
  • No more than 2 Master’s Premier players per O45A game.

Master’s 1 & lower

Age Category:  35 as of Jan 1st

  • Eligible to play up for any team in Master’s Elite/Comp, Men's Open.
  • Can guest play a maximum of 6 games per team in a season.
  • Master's players who are 45 years of age and older:
    • can guest play for any O45 team for an unlimited number of games
    • no more than 2 Masters’ players may play down per game per team.
    • Exception: those registered in the lowest Master’s divisions (Masters 3) may play unlimited into O45 and up to 4 may play down into any O45 division.

Over 45

Age Category:  O45 prior to registration 

  • Can play up unlimited per team with any Master’s, Men's Open or higher Over 45 division team.
  • Can play down into O55 unlimited per team if at least 53 years of age.
  • Can also play for same division i.e. O45C-1 player can guest play for a team in O45C-2. (NOT APPLICABLE FOR INDOOR SEASON)

Over 55

Age Category:  O55 prior to registration

  • Can play up unlimited per team with any O45, Master’s or Open division team.
  • May guest play on any O55 team within their program. 

 

Boarded Program

  • Open - Competitive (highest division), Intermediate, Recreational (lowest division) - can only play up for teams in a higher division, a maximum of 6 times per team. 
  • Masters O35 - can play up to Open, a maximum of 6 times per team.
    • Master's players who are 45 years of age and older:
      • can guest play for any O45 team for an unlimited number of games
      • no more than 2 Masters’ players may play down per game per team.
  • Over 45 - O45B are eligible to play up unlimited for any team in Open, Masters Boarded, and O45A. O45A players are NOT allowed to play down for O45B. 
    • O45B registered players are allowed to guest play for any other team in O45B.

 

Coed Program

  • Teams are eligible to have up to 4 guest players in a match
  • Guest players are ONLY permitted from other teams in their same competitive grouping i.e. Recreational or Ultra Recreational. 
  • The team and the player are responsible to ensure that he or she is eligible to play as a guest player.
  • Players may be a guest player 6 times per team only in a season.
